Animals
Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms. ~George Eliot I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals. ~Winston Churchill
HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME!
Thanks due to the farmers and participants for making the placements so enjoyable. CLICK ON PICTURE FOR MORE PHOTOS
GARDENING
From Mole Hills to Muck Heap. "There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there." - Indira Gandhi "Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the corn field." - Dwight David Eisenhower
FENCING
Really satisfying to look at a straight line of fencing! "The fence is mine. I built it, slat by slat, My self, Pure, cold, white, tall, straight. And on this side— This side, my side— The shrubs are clipped, And sit in rows, Perfect rows, Spacing wide;" Brent C Dickerson
CLEARANCE
Letting the light into an overgrown pond, lighting a bonfire, clearing a woodland or maze, collecting rubbish – always good to see where you have been.
Do something different
The project provides a doorway to a new experience – repairing a mud wall, hurdle making, rounding up the sheep, working in the glass workshop, dry stone walling.
Sheep
Nothing like the thrill of holding a new borne lamb;/nothing so impressive as seeing the sheep shearers, nothing so amusing as the failed rugby tackle by one of the guys trying to catch a sheep
Dry Stone Walling
Dry Stone Walling really wetted everyone's appetite for training. It did help that the weather was excellent on the days we were up on the Brecon Beacons!

Ploughing with Dutch Draught Horses
On 31st October Annie & Casper two Dutch Draught Horses, brought over from Holland in July, helped turn over a new organic plot and signal the start of a new project at Ysgubornewydd Farm, Brecon. LD3 8LE. to be used for those excluded from work. Over 60 people turned up to watch the event, recall when they used to work with a horse and plough and pass on their memories and expertise to those who were borne long after the use of the old ways had passed. Half the audience had a go at ploughing a straight furrow, with ages ranging from 11 to 87. Besides a most educational and enjoyable day the ploughing recruited volunteers who want to be involved with the project which will provide work, accredited training & healthy produce for individuals normally excluded from the workplace.
